Escape the big city to spend a day in Tay Ninh – a mountainous area near the Vietnamese – Cambodian border. Visit Black Lady Mountain for stunning views and intriguing Buddhist temples and caves; followed by Cao Dai Holy Temple to learn first-hand about the unique fusion religion of the Cao Dai sect.
We will first head to Cao Dai Holy Temple in this tour. This temple includes complex houses, administrative offices, and residences for officials and adepts and also a hospital of traditional Vietnamese herbal medicine that attracts people from all over the south for treatments. Cao Dai Temple is surprising you with its colorful decoration on the wall, ceiling and the pillars. The temple is home to Cao Dai sects who practice a unique hybrid of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Christianity. Have lunch at a local restaurant then proceed to Black Lady Mountain, approximately 11 kilometers to the Northeast of Tay Ninh, an area near the Vietnamese - Cambodian Border. Black Lady Mountain consists of three major mountains covering an area of 24 kilometers and reaching an altitude of 986 meters. Conquering the 986-meter-high mountain, the highest in the nation’s southeastern region, might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The beautiful temples and caves at Black Lady Mountain used to house Buddhist monks and nuns remain largely undisturbed. Soaring on the cable car, we can take a panoramic view of a waterfall under the glistening sun, mysterious caves and dense forest. However, if visitors do not want to go by cable car, they can trek to the top of the mountain.
Caution: Visitors are only asked to wear trousers or skirts covering the knee. Don’t forget to remove your hats, coats, and shoes before stepping inside the temple.
